LG Innotek and TDK Collaborate on Cutting-Edge Robotics Vision and Sensors

by admin477351

LG Innotek and Japan’s TDK have teamed up to advance robotics and physical AI technologies by developing cutting-edge vision and tactile sensing modules. This collaboration merges LG Innotek’s expertise in optical and precision engineering with TDK’s leading sensor technology, aiming to enhance the capabilities of future robots.

Scheduled for release in 2027, the first product from this partnership will be a vision sensing module that incorporates an inertial sensor. This innovative system is designed to integrate visual, motion, direction, and sound data, allowing robots to more accurately perceive and interact with their environment while minimizing image distortion caused by movement.

In addition to vision sensing, the companies are also working on a tactile sensing module that mimics human skin. This module will enable robots to detect touch and pressure through their hands, arms, and bodies, significantly improving their ability to interact with objects and people. Like the vision sensing module, the tactile sensing technology is expected to be completed by 2027.

LG Innotek believes that this strategic partnership will bolster its standing in the burgeoning robotics market. By expanding its AI sensing technology portfolio to include cameras, lidar, radar, and tactile sensors, the company aims to enhance the functionality and adaptability of robotic systems.
