Apple has committed to a significant investment exceeding $30 billion in a new multi-year agreement with Broadcom, aimed at bolstering semiconductor production within the United States. This initiative will focus on manufacturing over 15 billion chips, enhancing the domestic supply chain for Apple and reinforcing the U.S. semiconductor industry.

The collaboration with Broadcom is part of Apple’s broader strategy to create a comprehensive U.S.-based chip ecosystem, encompassing both the design and manufacturing processes. This effort is not only expected to elevate the production of advanced wireless technologies used in Apple products but also to support hundreds of jobs in the sector.

Under the terms of the agreement, Broadcom will allocate $1.5 billion to upgrade its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. This facility will be responsible for producing advanced radio frequency components, such as FBAR filters, which are crucial for enhancing the wireless performance and connectivity of Apple devices.

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized that this partnership underscores the company’s enduring dedication to American manufacturing and innovation. He highlighted the importance of the advanced components from Colorado in meeting the high performance and wireless standards expected by Apple customers. Cook also expressed pride in deepening investments in U.S. suppliers who focus on advanced technology and high-quality manufacturing.

Broadcom CEO Hock Tan expressed enthusiasm for the expanded collaboration, emphasizing shared values with Apple in strengthening American innovation and manufacturing capabilities. This agreement is a part of Apple’s previously outlined $600 billion U.S. investment plan, which includes initiatives like expanding manufacturing capacity, setting up AI server facilities in Texas, and generating additional high-skilled jobs nationwide.
